Cheap deworming medicines for children

Levamisole

Levamisole hydrochloride is a white or pale pink crystalline powder, almost odorless, freely soluble in water; is stable in acidic solutions and undergoes hydrolysis in alkaline and neutral solutions. Molecular weight 240.75.

Pharmachologic effect:

  • immunomodulatory;
  • anthelmintic.

The anthelmintic effect is due to the blockade of succinate dehydrogenase, suppression of the process of fumarate reduction and, as a consequence, disruption of energy metabolism in helminths.

Causes depolarization of the membranes of muscle cells of helminths. Paralyzed nematodes are removed from the body by normal intestinal motility within 24 hours after ingestion. Particularly active against Ascaris lumbricoides, Necator Americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale.

The drug should not be taken in case of agranulocytosis, the development of which was provoked by drugs in the anamnesis, or if the patient has hypersensitivity to the drug. Levamisole is not prescribed to children under 14 years of age.

Levamisole

This drug is prescribed with extreme caution for liver diseases, suppression of hematopoiesis, kidney disease, cerebrovascular disorders, as well as when using the drug simultaneously with other medications that affect hematopoiesis.

Levamisole is approved for children over 14 years of age. Treatment is carried out in the same way as in adults, the dose is taken at a time. Children are prescribed 2.5 mg per 1 kg of weight. But usually a single dose is 1 whole tablet.

Price - from 40 rub.

Mebendazole

Mebendazole is a synthetic drug with a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action. It causes disruption of glucose metabolism in the tissues of the worm, depletion of glycogen reserves in them and inhibits the formation of adenosine triphosphoric acid (ATP), a source of energy for the helminth. All these irreversible changes lead to the death of the parasite.

The drug is almost not absorbed in the intestines. It is distributed unevenly in tissues: it accumulates in higher concentrations in the liver, adipose tissue and worm larvae. Excreted from the body through the intestines (90%) and kidneys (up to 10%).

Contraindications:

  • hypersensitivity to Mebendazole;
  • nonspecific ulcerative colitis;
  • Crohn's disease;
  • liver failure;
  • children's age (up to 2 years);
  • pregnancy;
  • lactation period.

Dosages:

Children aged 2 to 10 years - at a dose of 25-50 mg once. In case of a high probability of re-infestation, the dose is repeated after 2-4 weeks at the same dose.

Mebendazole

It is recommended to treat all family members simultaneously.

For ascariasis, trichuriasis, hookworm, taeniasis, strongyloidiasis and mixed helminthiasis - 100 mg in the morning and evening for 3 days. For trichinosis - 200-400 mg 3 times / day for 3 days, and from the 4th to the 10th day - 400-500 mg 3 times / day.

For echinococcosis - 500 mg 2 times / day in the first 3 days, then at the same dose 3 times / day in the next 3 days. Subsequently, it is used at a dose of 25-30 mg/kg/day in 3-4 doses.

Price - from 90 rub.

  • children from 2 to 6 years old - 250 mg (1 tablet or 1 spoon);
  • children from 6 to 12 years old - 500 mg (2 tablets or 2 spoons);
  • children over 12 years of age and adults weighing less than 75 kg - 750 mg (3 tablets or 3 spoons).

For ascariasis and enterobiasis, the drug is prescribed once at a dose of 10 mg/kg body weight. In some cases, it is permissible to use the drug in a minimum dose of 5 mg/kg.

Pirantel

For hookworm, a dose of 10 mg/kg/day is prescribed for 3 days.

For severe forms of necatoriasis (massive infestations of Necator americanus), a dose of 20 mg/kg/day is prescribed for 2 days.

The drug is taken during or after meals, the tablet should be chewed thoroughly.

Cheap drugs for cats

Febtal

Anthelmintic agent of the benzimidazole group. The mechanism of action of fenbendazole is the destruction of microtubules in the intestinal cells of helminths and disruption of energy processes, which leads to the death of parasites.

When administered orally, fenbendazole is easily absorbed in the intestine and distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal; excreted from the body in unchanged form and in the form of metabolites, mainly with bile and partly with urine, and in lactating animals also with milk.

Febtal

The medication is given to animals in the morning with a treat or a small amount of tasty food. Puppies and kittens (over 3 weeks of age) are given Febtal once a day for 3 days in a row, at the rate of 1 tablet per 3 kg of animal weight. How drops affect parasites

Absolutely any animal can become infected with helminths and fleas, even if it does not leave the apartment. Veterinarians recommend, for preventive purposes, to give the drug against fleas and worms to cats walking outside monthly, and to indoor pets at least 4 times a year. Not all meowing individuals like visiting veterinary clinics, much less water treatments or taking tablet medications. Drops against fleas, ticks and worms for cats were developed especially for such recalcitrant specimens, destroying all parasites with one application to the withers.

Flea drops

Many people wonder how a remedy for fleas and worms for cats works, how external use affects endoparasites in the intestines. These drugs contain substances that have a paralytic effect on the nerve and muscle cells of intestinal parasites.

When the drug against fleas and ticks and worms for cats is applied to the skin of the pet, the active substances penetrate the skin and spread throughout the body, providing effective cleansing of helminths. The maximum concentration of active ingredients is observed 24 hours after use. The period of breakdown and elimination from the body is long and the active components accumulate in the sebaceous glands, thereby creating a protective barrier against harmful insects.

Not many companies produce flea and worm medicine for cats “in one bottle,” so it’s worth familiarizing yourself in detail with the features of using each of them. The principle of using drugs is the same for everyone:

  • the pet's skin should be dry and without obvious damage;
  • the pipette is opened immediately before use;
  • processing of the animal is carried out using rubber gloves to avoid contact of the product with the skin;
  • the contents are applied near the base of the neck;
  • used pipettes must be disposed of;
  • The drops should be stored out of the reach of children and animals;
  • drops are intended for external use only.

Available medications for dogs

Azinox

Anthelmintic drug. Taking Azinox increases the permeability of helminth cell membranes to Ca2+, causing generalized muscle contraction, which turns into persistent paralysis, leading to the death of helminths. Active against Clonorchis sinensis (Chinese fluke), Metagonimus Yokogawai, Opisthorchis felineus (cat fluke or Siberian fluke), Opisthorchis viverrini (Civet fluke), Paragonimus westermani (pulmonary fluke), Fasciola hepatica (liver fluke), Fasciola gigantika (giant fluke) .

"Azinox" for dogs is administered orally individually, once, in the morning feeding with a small amount of food, or administered forcibly at a dose of 1 tablet per 10 kg of animal weight.

A preliminary starvation diet and the use of laxatives before deworming animals are not required.

For therapeutic purposes, dogs are dewormed according to indications, for preventive purposes - quarterly in a therapeutic dose.

How to give a cat a deworming suspension?

First, let's figure out how to give a cat an anti-worm suspension and whether it is possible to use such a dosage form in your conditions. Let us immediately note that many cats have a frightening reaction to the suspension - foamy saliva, coughing and sneezing . If you do not take this convention into account, there are only advantages to using a suspension.

Almost always, a bottle of suspension is equipped with a dispenser. If there is no dispenser, the suspension can be given using a syringe, and to the kitten using a pipette. Before taking the suspension, hold the bottle in your palm and shake it thoroughly. By heating from the palm of your hand, the suspension mixes faster and acquires a homogeneous consistency.

Having collected the required amount of suspension, take the cat in your arms and try to calm it down. If your pet does not have a fighting temperament, you need to place it with its back to the wall (so that there is nowhere to back away), open its mouth and carefully pour the suspension onto the root of the tongue.

Irritation of the root of the tongue leads to reflex swallowing. If your pet intends to bite and scratch, it must be wrapped in a towel and held in your arms. When the cat is restricted in movement, the risk of the suspension entering the respiratory tract increases, so be very careful.

The undoubted advantage of anti-worm medications in the form of suspensions is their convenience when carrying out preventive measures for kittens. Almost all drugs have a sweetish taste and do not have a strong medicinal smell, which simplifies the drinking process.

If the cat is too resistant to applying the suspension to the root of the tongue, the drug can be mixed with a small amount of food. The experience of owners shows that cats almost do not feel a deworming suspension mixed with cottage cheese or other fermented milk products.

Like any other anti-worm medications, it is recommended to give the suspension in the morning before meals. This is explained quite simply - when food is in the intestines, the rate of absorption of the drug decreases, and the maximum therapeutic effect takes longer to achieve. After administration of the drug, the cat can be fed after 1–1.5 hours, unless the instructions contain other conditions. By the way, the suspension acts quite gently, so it does not require the use of laxatives and rarely leads to disruption of the gastrointestinal tract.

The annotations of almost all suspensions indicate that the drugs have no contraindications or side effects. However, practice shows that the prevention of worms can lead to the following complications: mild apathy, nausea, increased salivation. Symptoms should be monitored, but intervention should not be made unless necessary. If the symptoms do not go away within a few hours, the cat needs to be given an adsorbent.

In rare cases, and only if there is a severe overdose, a cat can be poisoned by the deworming suspension. If you observe signs of intoxication: the cat has started vomiting, diarrhea, or the base body temperature has dropped, contact your veterinarian immediately. Adsorbents and laxatives allow for effective cleansing, since most of the active ingredients in suspensions are absorbed into the blood.

Tablets for the prevention of worms in humans

Regarding preventive measures with the help of medications, experts have different opinions. Some believe that such measures should be taken. This will protect against the development of diseases caused by exposure to helminths. Others say there is a possibility that after taking the medicine, a person could become infected again the next day. Therefore, taking medications does not make sense. They should be prescribed if parasites are detected. Each person must decide for himself. When making such a decision, it is important to consult a doctor. Since drugs have a different spectrum of action and their own side effects, an individual approach is needed.

From: Lyudmila S. ()

Not long ago my health condition worsened. I began to feel constant fatigue, headaches, laziness and some kind of endless apathy appeared. Problems also appeared with the gastrointestinal tract: bloating, diarrhea, pain and bad breath.

I thought it was because of the hard work and hoped that it would go away on its own. But every day I felt worse. The doctors couldn’t really say anything either. Everything seems to be normal, but I feel like my body is not healthy.

I decided to go to a private clinic. Here I was advised, in addition to general tests, to get tested for parasites. So in one of the tests they found parasites in me. According to doctors, these were worms, which 90% of people have and almost everyone is infected, to a greater or lesser extent.

I was prescribed a course of antiparasitic medications. But it didn’t give me any results. A week later, a friend sent me a link to an article where some parasitologist shared real tips on fighting parasites. This article literally saved my life. I followed all the advice that was there and after a couple of days I felt much better!

Digestion improved, headaches went away and the vital energy that I so lacked appeared. To be sure, I took the tests again and no parasites were found!
