About the manufacturer
Grandin food production is located in two European countries. The Czech plant Dibas AS produces dry croquettes, and the German company Landguth produces canned food. There is no information on the official website about who owns the Grandin trademark, however, both production enterprises meet sanitary and technological requirements. Grandin products are developed with the participation of breeders and veterinarians, using high-quality raw materials. The line of food belongs to the super-premium class.
Feed composition
In Grandin, the content of fresh meat reaches 30-50%, components of animal origin - up to 70% (in canned food), several types of meat are used. Let's look at the ingredients of the composition using the example of food for adult dogs of any breed with lamb:
- protein source - a combination of fresh meat and dried lamb, dehydrated chicken meat, hydrolyzed lamb liver. This combination restores the dog’s need for proteins and animal fats;
- The main source of carbohydrates is rice, and the main source of fiber is beet pulp and apple pulp. These are completely natural products that remain when processing and peeling vegetables;
- source of amino acids – poultry fat, salmon meat;
- Brewer's yeast, chicory root, and yucca are used as additional components in the feed.
Grandin is balanced in nutritional components, contains vitamins, macro- and microelements. No supplements are required to keep your pet healthy and fit.
Grandin Dog Food Review
“Grandin”, dog food, is a brand under which two types of food are produced:
- Dry food produced at the Czech plant Dibaq AS
- Wet, produced in Germany at Landguth factories.
When looking for this product on the shelves of a pet store, owners need to know what class of Grandin dog food it is. The manufacturer positions the product as super-premium.
The demand for this European pet product is due to the good price-quality ratio. The Grandin range includes essential products needed in the diet of young and mature dogs. However, the company does not produce specialty or diet foods. A high percentage of animal protein content contributes to the proper formation of muscles in the pet and the overall development of the body. The main ingredient is fresh meat, which is rich in micronutrients, minerals, and vitamins. In addition, the bright taste makes the food pleasant for the dog.
You can purchase this product in Moscow, the Moscow region, and other regions of Russia only in Four Paws stores.
Analysis of Grandin feed composition
In dry food "Grandin" the content of fresh meat reaches 50%, and ingredients of animal origin - 80%. It includes several types of meat. Canned products are made from one species, and its content reaches 70%. This makes it easier to find food for an animal with allergies.
To study the composition of Grandin in more detail, let’s take one of the diets presented in their assortment. Grandin Adult Small is a balanced diet for any breed of dog, based on lamb meat. This food was developed specifically for animals suffering from food allergies, so it does not contain wheat, one of the allergens. Granules contain:
- 15% fresh lamb and 5% dried;
- 20% poultry meat;
- lamb liver - microelements and flavoring;
- whole and broken rice - complex carbohydrates;
- animal fat and salmon oil - fats and fatty acids;
- dried beet pulp and dry apple pulp - fiber;
- yeast - B vitamins;
- chicory root - prebiotic inulin;
- Yucca - to reduce the unpleasant odor of excrement.
Important! Grandin products do not contain GMOs or other components hazardous to the health of dogs.
Amount of fats, fiber and other microelements in Grandin:
Crude protein | 24% |
Vegetable oils and fats | 14% |
Cellulose | 2,3% |
Raw ash | 7,9% |
Calcium | 1,5% |
Phosphorus | 1% |
Iron | 85 mg per 1 kg |
Copper | 16 mg per 1 kg |
Zinc | 139 mg per 1 kg |
Iodine | 1.7 mg per 1 kg |
Total energy value 4034 kcal/kg.
The peculiarity of the Grandin diet is the method of preparation. Unlike other products, the amount of water is minimal. A mixture of fresh and dry meat is soaked in the juice of the meat itself, which increases the digestibility and improves the taste of the food.
Advantages and disadvantages
Grandin is considered a high quality product and includes many advantages:
- the source of protein is meat and ingredients of animal origin, and not soy or other raw materials;
- do not contain corn, wheat or other grains except rice;
- rich in minerals, trace elements and vitamins.
Nothing is perfect, which is why the Grandin diet has some flaws:
- the product is sold only in one chain of pet stores;
- the exact preservatives and antioxidants used in the production process are not indicated;
- high price (compared to a number of other brands).
In general, these minor shortcomings are unnoticeable against the background of the advantages that characterize the Grandin diet.
Advantages and disadvantages
Grandin food is popular due to its high-quality composition and high protein content.
Advantages:
- a large number of meat components in dry food and canned food for dogs;
- complete composition;
- lack of grain crops (wheat, corn);
- The packaging indicates the percentage composition of all ingredients.
Cons of Grandin food:
- unclear wording in the composition;
- presence of preservatives and antioxidants;
- the use of two types of meat, which causes difficulties when choosing food for dogs with allergies;
- Difficult to purchase, high price.
Grandin is easier to buy in online stores; this product is rarely found in retail chains. Some foods in the line contain grains, which is not suitable for dogs with digestive problems.
Formulation and nutritional content
We analyze the composition of the feed mixture using the example of food for kittens and pregnant females:
Composition of Grandin feed
Meat and fish ingredients come first. A variety of foods ensures that the protein is balanced in amino acids. Chicken and salmon fat are more suitable for the cat's body than vegetable oils.
The manufacturer has prepared grain-free food for kittens and pregnant females. Cats need small amounts of carbohydrates. Therefore, starch comes from potatoes and green peas. The latter is a source of dietary fiber. Beet pulp (dry pulp) is a sorbent that absorbs and retains excess moisture. Apples contain antioxidants and pectin, which are absorbed by beneficial bacteria in the large intestine. Whey (apparently milk whey) is also added to the feed mixture. It contains lactose, which is only accessible to the enzymes of beneficial bacteria. Two types of yeast were included in the feed. These are sources of B vitamins, as well as immunomodulators.
The plant complex contains natural antiseptics, preservatives, dietary fiber, and biologically active substances. Chicory rhizome is included in all premium and holistic feeds as a reservoir of Inulin, a prebiotic that nourishes microflora. Yucca has the ability to partially absorb unpleasant odors emanating from cat excrement.
The feed mixture included rosemary extract, Taurine, DL-methionine, antioxidants, and preservatives. Perhaps this is why consumers consider Grandin food not a holistic product, but a super-premium product. The energy value of the feed is high – 4306 kcal/kg due to the large amount of fat – 22%. A high level of protein (38%) ensures intensive growth, embryo development, and abundant lactation.

The official website of the feed is https://grandin-pet.ru, by visiting it you will find detailed information about the entire line of feed of this brand (compositions, feeding rates, information about manufacturing plants).
In terms of the quality of the Grandin composition, this is a super-premium class. And although it was not included in the food rating on the website catmolly.com, it is still of fairly high quality. To make sure of this, let's look at the composition.
Composition analysis
Let's get acquainted with the composition of Grandin food using the example of the "Indoor" formula (diet for adult domestic cats, with lamb):
Information about the composition from the official website.
In first place are “meat and fish ingredients”, which are a source of protein. The manufacturer specifies that this ingredient includes 25% fresh lamb, 21% dried chicken, 8% dried lamb, 4% pork liver, 3% dried cod, as well as conger eel and sardine.
In general, these are all good ingredients, and they are combined into one most likely for marketing purposes (to write more meat ingredients at the beginning of the composition).
The food is grain-free, so potatoes are used as the main source of carbohydrates, and green peas as an additional source. Chicken fat and cold-pressed Norwegian salmon oil are quality ingredients that provide fatty acids and fats to your cat's body.
Beet pulp and apples are sources of fiber. Chicken eggs are rich in protein and other substances necessary for the cat's body. Brewer's yeast is used as a source of B vitamins. Flaxseed contains unsaturated fatty acids and is also a source of fiber.
The composition is completed by such useful additives as: a plant complex (including various medicinal herbs), minerals, chicory root (a source of the prebiotic inulin), ginger root, Yucca Schidigera (reduces the unpleasant odor from cat excrement).

The following advantages of this food can be highlighted:
- sources of protein are animal meat and fish;
- rich in vitamins, minerals and other substances needed by the cat’s body;

Was there chicken in the Grandin Puppy Small?
Despite the large inscriptions on the packaging “Chicken” (Chicken) and “50% Fresh Chicken Meat” (50% fresh chicken meat), there is no information about chicken in the list of ingredients. This is purely a marketing ploy, since the food contains only various poultry derivatives. Component No. 1 here is “poultry meat (50% fresh poultry meat, 22.5% dried poultry meat)”, in second place is “hydrolyzed poultry liver (3%)”, and the “Grandin” product also contains “poultry fat” .
As you know, food with such components can contain not only chicken, but poultry of various species in unknown proportions. The statement about the freshness of 50% of the poultry meat does not play a special role - the characteristics of the main ingredient Grandin Puppy Small are still low (the assessment of the vague raw materials cannot be different). By the way, of the entire list of ingredients, only chicken eggs, listed in 9th place in the composition, are related to chicken.
As for hydrolyzed poultry liver, it is usually used to enhance the taste and aroma of diets - it is not surprising that this component is only 3%. In addition, fishmeal (also from unknown raw materials) is of animal origin. It is strange that in the English-speaking composition its share is not indicated, but in the Russian-speaking composition it is 4%. An error has clearly crept in somewhere - either the data was distorted during the manufacture of the packaging, or the order in which the components were indicated was violated.
Please note that the proportions of components in Grandin food are indicated selectively - only for animal ingredients.
