Farmazin: how an antibiotic is used in veterinary medicine, instructions for use for birds

Properties, principle of operation

A broad-spectrum antibiotic is prescribed for the treatment of bacterial lesions only if there are no contraindications for the use of the composition.

Farmazin for cats

It is unacceptable to violate the course of therapy, as this leads to the formation of bacteria resistant to Farmazin, which significantly complicates further treatment. The composition is effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (spp).

The main component of the drug, tylosin, has an inhibitory effect on protein synthesis in bacterial cells.

This allows you to stop the reproduction of the pathogen in a short time and destroy it with minimal harm to the animal’s body. The effect of tylosin is pronounced. The active components of the drug quickly penetrate the blood after its administration and are distributed throughout the body.

The maximum concentration of the antibiotic during accumulation is achieved in the lungs, kidneys and liver. The medicine is excreted in urine and feces.

If, after 3 days from the start of treatment, the animal’s condition does not improve, then it is necessary to urgently visit a veterinarian.

It is highly likely that the medication will need to be replaced with another drug. If possible, to determine the effectiveness of Farmazin, a bacterial culture of a smear taken from the throat or nose during inflammation of the respiratory system is carried out on a nutrient medium.

In most cases, after proper use of Farmazin 500, there is no need for restrictive measures.

There is no provision for slaughtering broilers for meat before 35 days of age. More than five days have passed since the last antibiotic treatment.

Forcibly slaughtered replacement chickens under 9 weeks of age or turkey poults under a month old are not suitable for food. Therefore, we can say that there are no restrictions on the consumption of meat or eggs.

Farmazin 500 is a powder containing equal amounts of tylosin and the filler lactose.

It is packaged in polymer jars of 25 and 200 g or bags of 10 g. The cost of a ten-gram package is about 120 rubles, a two-hundred-gram package is approximately 1,250 rubles.

It is recommended to store the drug in a dark, dry place at a temperature of +5 to +25 degrees for no more than three years from the date of production.

Indications for use

For cats, the medicine is used according to strict indications.

Your veterinarian may prescribe an antibiotic for your cat in the following cases:

  • bronchopneumonia, especially in advanced form;
  • severe inflammation of the joints of a bacterial nature;
  • dysentery;
  • secondary bacterial infection against the background of a viral infection;
  • severe purulent-inflammatory skin diseases, if there is no effectiveness from the use of other types of antibiotics.

In most cases, Farmazin 50 is prescribed to cats by a veterinarian when the use of other types of antibiotics is low.

The main area of use of this antibiotic is agriculture , where it allows you to quickly eliminate various diseases of pigs, goats, sheep, cows and poultry. With this treatment, it is possible to consume their meat, milk and eggs fairly quickly after its completion.

How to use, dosage

Before use, measure out the required amount of powder and dilute it by adding water in small portions. If Farmazin is poured into water, hard-to-break lumps will form. The resulting concentrate is diluted with the volume required for daily drinking.

Mammals or birds are isolated from water bodies and reservoirs, so that the only source of drinking is the Farmazin solution in drinking bowls. Unused liquid residues are removed daily and replaced with freshly prepared medicinal drinks. Tylosin is sensitive to solar radiation, so drinkers are installed in the shaded part of the room.

For chickens, turkey poults, goslings, ducklings

The scheme for the preventive feeding of Farmazin for chicks of egg-laying hens, broiler chickens, turkey poults, and young animals of other poultry is the same. A 0.1% solution is used, i.e. 10 g of powder is dissolved in 10 liters of water.

Poultry raised for meat is soldered at 1-3 days of age and on the 28th day of life. If the chicks are sick, the treatment period is extended by another 2 days.

Recovered turkey poults are not used for breeding because they become a lifelong reservoir of infection.

For adult birds

Breeding young of egg hens are fed at the age of 1-3, 28-29, 56-57 days and on the 140-141st day of life.

Farmazin 500 is not prescribed to adult birds, since the antibiotic is excreted in the egg for a long time after taking the drug.

Can Farmazin be given to other animals?

Farmazin is administered to cats and dogs by injection.
The indication for the use of Farmazin 500 in pig farming is the disease of piglets with dysentery. Predominantly suckling cubs under one month of age are susceptible to infection.

Veterinary experts believe that related factors include inadequate feeding of the queens and unsatisfactory maintenance parameters.

The duration of treatment is 3-10 days, until complete recovery.

The dosage of water-soluble powder per unit mass is not practiced. Farmazin is dissolved with water required for daily consumption. Every day the drinking bowl is emptied of residues and freshly prepared medicine is poured.

For bronchopneumonia, calves are given a solution of Farmazin 500 individually with milk or water at a dose of 20 mg per kilogram of weight. That is, a calf weighing 30 kg is given 20*30=600 mg of water-soluble powder. The course of treatment lasts one to two weeks with twice daily dosing of the drug.

Farmazin is administered to cats and dogs by injection , since it is difficult to give them an antibiotic solution.

Directions for use, dosage for cats

The medicine is administered through an injection. The injection is given intramuscularly in the thigh using an insulin syringe. The dose for the animal is individually calculated by the veterinarian.

Most often, an antibiotic is administered at a dosage of 0.1-0.2 ml per 1 kg of cat weight per day. The injection is given once a day at the same time. The drug should be injected alternately into the right and left thigh. This is required to prevent the formation of compactions in tissues.

The medicine is administered by injection

The course of treatment is determined by a veterinarian and should not be interrupted arbitrarily by the cat’s owner.

After the animal’s condition improves, the prescribed course of injections is continued for as many days as recommended by the veterinarian. Otherwise, there is a high risk of re-development of the disease due to activation of the pathogen.

Farmazin 50, 50 ml.

COMPOSITION AND FORM OF RELEASE

Farmazin 50 is a medicinal product containing the antibiotic tylosin as an active substance in the form of a base in an organic solvent. Farmazin 50 contains 50 mg of tylosin in 1 ml. The drug is a pale yellow injection solution. They are produced in 50 ml bottles, which are placed in cardboard boxes.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Tylosin is an antibiotic from the macrolide group, active against most gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria, including staphylococci, streptococci, corynebacteria, clostridia, pasteurella, erysipelothrix, spirochetes, chlamydia, Treponema chiodysentery and mycoplasmas. When administered intramuscularly, the antibiotic is well absorbed from the injection site into the blood and penetrates almost all organs and tissues of the body. The highest levels of tylosin are achieved in the lungs, liver, mammary glands and kidneys. After a single injection, the therapeutic concentration of the antibiotic remains in the body for at least 20 hours. In addition, due to the peculiarities of the mechanism of action, Farmazin 50 selectively accumulates in tissues with low pH values, that is, in areas of inflammation, providing a targeted effect. Farmazin 50 also exhibits nonspecific immunostimulating and immunomodulating effects due to the inhibition of cytokines, activation of plasma cells and antibody production, activation of leukocyte chemotaxis and proliferation of lymphoid elements. Farmazin 50 accumulates in exceptionally high concentrations in the lysosomes of neutrophils, ensuring the completion of phagocytosis and rapid disposal of bacterial pathogens. The special composition of the organic solvent in the injectable Farmazin ensures high storage stability, optimal consistency for comfortable filling of the syringe and absolutely painless injections for the animal. The drug is excreted from the body mainly in feces, and in smaller quantities in urine and milk.

INDICATIONS

Prescribed for the treatment of bronchopneumonia of cattle and small ruminants, pigs, dogs and cats, enzootic pneumonia, arthritis, dysentery, atrophic rhinitis of pigs, infectious agalactia of sheep and goats, mastitis of cattle, skin and surgical infections, as well as for the prevention and treatment secondary infections in viral diseases.

DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION

When repeated use, it is necessary to change the injection site.

SIDE EFFECTS

Very rarely, allergic reactions in pigs are possible in the form of erythema, itching, respiratory phenomena, mild swelling with slight prolapse of the rectum, which quickly disappear after stopping the use of the drug.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Increased individual sensitivity to tylosin. It is not recommended to use Farmazin 50 simultaneously with tiamulin, clindamycin, chloramphenicol, penicillins (especially ampicillin and oxacillin), cephalosporins and lincomycin due to a pronounced decrease in the antibacterial effect of tylosin.

Reviews from owners and veterinarians about the drug

Veterinarians speak positively about the medicine, but since it is more intended for farm animals, they do not use it for cats very often.

Cat owners, although the antibiotic has a quick therapeutic effect, usually do not really like it when their pets are prescribed this composition, since they have to give intramuscular injections.

Those who know how to easily administer medicine intramuscularly to a cat speak only positively about the product.
