Review of the drug for cats Marena Krasilnaya

The healing herb madder for the treatment of cats with diseases of the urinary system is used quite successfully and effectively in veterinary practice.

Madder extract is extracted from the roots and rhizomes of the plant. The unique composition contained in the roots helps to crush and remove kidney stones. The dry extract of the plant eliminates smooth muscle spasms and activates the diuretic process. Promotes the destruction of stones consisting of particles of magnesium and calcium.

Madder for the treatment of cats

The dry extract has a strong diuretic and antispasmodic effect. After taking the tablets, the frequency of urination increases, and at the same time cloudiness of the urine is recorded, which is explained by the release of destroyed stones or sand.

Chemical composition of the plant

The root of the plant contains:

  • malic, tartaric and citric acids;
  • sugar;
  • proteins;
  • vitamin C;
  • pectin substances;
  • anthraquinones.

In the above-ground part of madder there are:

  1. carbohydrates;
  2. coumarins;
  3. flavonoids;
  4. routine

The underground part of the plant is used for medicinal purposes. Useful elements are preserved if the plant is collected and prepared correctly, according to the requirements. Harvesting roots should be done in early spring or late autumn. The roots are dried at a temperature of 45 degrees.

For everyone who is desperate for the treatment of urolithiasis in cats, come here.

I want to say right away that this herb pulled our cat Kirill out of the other world.
I previously published about the treatment of a cat at the Movete and Zoovete veterinary clinics. The third clinic was the Butovo district veterinary hospital, the only one there that could help in some way. I’ll tell you a little backstory: since May we lived not for ourselves, but just to prevent the cat from dying. Lots of money for various medications, procedures, catheters, the torment of the cat and our hysterics, because it is impossible to look at all this calmly. All the doctors, except the head of the Butovo district veterinary hospital, either simply stupidly took money or said that the cat would not survive and would die. No one could really make a diagnosis. The cat could not go to the toilet and walked all the time with a catheter, in a diaper and a collar, his mother gave him 4 injections a day. The long story is that everything was very, very bad.

Probably as a reward for her efforts, my mother came across a forum, where she learned about the properties of madder. There was nothing to lose, so I started giving the cat water. The cat recorded himself for the first time in 2.5 months. First in small puddles, then larger and larger. Now almost all the urine is coming out. I can’t even believe that after so much time and medications that didn’t help, the herb helped and so quickly.

The course of treatment is at least a month, and preferably two. And you definitely need to continue to give it, for prevention. Usually madder helps immediately, already within 2-4 days. Take 1/4 of the tablet and dissolve it in 25 ml of water. We gave the cat water from a syringe, he drank obediently and did not spit, we gave it to female cats for prevention (we have 2 of them), they also drank normally. Give at the rate of 1 ml per 1 kg of pet’s weight, in such a severe case as ours, the dose is doubled. The solution can be stored for no more than 2 days, then you need to make a new one.

Later, the cat had to have a urestomy because the catheter damaged his urinary duct and it was constantly inflamed. But we feed him madder to this day.

So, if you have a similar situation, don’t give up and don’t watch animals suffer. Try feeding the animal madder and I think there is a 99% chance that it will help, and maybe you won’t even need surgery.

Action

The active components of the plant have a bactericidal effect and are effective against coccal bacteria. The plant helps to enhance peristaltic contractions of the muscles of the renal pelvis and ureters. Over time, the components of madder destroy urates in the kidneys and bladder and help eliminate them naturally.

Using the plant increases stomach acidity.

Madder activates the water-salt balance in the body of cats, relieves pain in the kidneys during urination, and promotes the promotion of urinary stones.

The use of this plant replaces certain medical procedures.

A few hours after consuming madder, the color of the urine turns red. This change lasts throughout the day.

Overdose and side effects

Symptoms of overdose are pain caused by the process of passing small stones.
Possible side effects after using madder are an allergic reaction and changes in the color of your pet's urine (brown color is alarming, light red tint is normal). It is necessary to reduce the dose or discontinue use if negative reactions are observed at lower doses.

Dosage and instructions for use

To treat cats, you need to take regular tablets produced for humans. The dose is determined according to the weight of the pet (1 ml per 1 kg of weight). It is recommended to take a quarter of one tablet for adults, and for a kitten the dose is a sixth of a tablet.

The medicine is diluted in a small amount of water (25 ml). The water should be boiled and cooled to room temperature.

The resulting solution should be given to a sick pet in the morning and evening. To accurately determine the amount, use a syringe with the needle removed.

When the cat’s disease is chronic or in the acute phase, the dose is doubled. When the escalation of the disease is overcome, you need to return to the original dose.

The duration of treatment is at least 30 days, in some cases 2 months, to avoid relapses.

It is not recommended to stop treatment or reduce the dose of medication arbitrarily, as the disease may worsen again.

A fresh solution of madder tablets is prepared at least once every 2 days.

It is normal for an animal’s urine to turn red after taking the medication. If the color of the urine becomes brown, this indicates an increased dose for the pet and an urgent need to adjust the daily dose. When, after reducing the dose, the color of the urine does not acquire a lighter shade, you should stop using the drug.

Basically, the first signs of improvement are recorded on the fifth day after starting to take the solution.

How to apply it correctly?

For cats with urolithiasis, treatment of other systemic pathologies and ailments, a quarter of the tablet is prescribed, which must be diluted with 25 ml of boiled warm water. Veterinarians recommend pouring the prepared solution into cats’ mouths with a regular disposable syringe without a needle at the rate of 1 ml per kilogram of animal body weight twice a day.

In case of painful, difficult urination, if the cat cannot go to the litter box, in chronic protracted forms of the disease, the dosage of the healing solution is doubled, after consulting with the treating veterinarian. Madder is given to cats three to four times a day. After the pet’s condition has normalized and urination problems have resolved, it is necessary to return to the original dosage.

To achieve optimal results, the treatment course should be 28-30 days. Please note that the solution must be prepared every two days. If necessary, madder can be used within two months. In this case, the risk of relapse is significantly reduced.

During the treatment of cats with madder, the color of my pets may acquire a reddish tint. This is completely normal, so don't panic. Moreover, if the urine turns dark brown, blood clots and inclusions appear, the recommended dosage of madder is reduced. Additionally, animals should be prescribed hemostatic drugs, antibiotics, and medications to relieve swelling of the urethra.

Contraindications

Madder dye is not allowed to be used for:

  1. Glomerulonephritis, both in the acute phase and in the chronic form;
  2. Severe renal failure;
  3. Stomach ulcer;
  4. Lactose deficiency;
  5. Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

The medicine should not be given to cats during lactation and pregnancy.

There are no special instructions prohibiting the use of madder with other drugs. The medicine can be used from 1 month of the kitten’s life.

The possibility of using an extract from the roots of madder for small kittens, its natural origin, and reasonable cost make the product one of the best among drugs with a similar purpose.

Indications for use

A cat should be treated with madder if the following symptoms are detected:

  • frequent urination, small amount of urine excreted;
  • in urine (urine) purulent impurities, sand, blood are visible;
  • urine (urine) is cloudy, rich yellow;
  • The cat’s temperature is elevated (more than 39 0 C);
  • The cat loses his appetite and is indifferent to everything.

Diseases of the urolithiasis system are more often observed in cats than in cats. This is due to the fact that males, unlike females, have a narrower urethra (urethra).

Madder is used to treat a cat when he has frequent urination and a small amount of urine.

Reviews from veterinarians

Elena Genadyevna. Veterinarian:

In modern veterinary practice, MB in cats is common. The fact is that most pets eat dry food, lead a sedentary lifestyle, and undergo castration or sterilization procedures.

Treatment and prevention with madder extract allows you to quickly and without harm to your pet’s health get rid of severe pathologies with dangerous consequences.

The drug allows you to naturally remove stones from the body in a short period of time and return your beloved pet to an active life. A proven product that can be purchased at any pharmacy; use does not require any skills.

Igor Vladislavovich. Veterinarian:

Madder tablets are obtained by extracting from the roots of the plant. You need to take the pills strictly according to the dose, so that signs of an overdose in the form of an allergy do not appear.

The use of madder can replace several medical procedures at once. A special feature of the drug is its ability to remove not only oxalates, but also urates and salts.

An excellent product with high performance.

Madder: its composition, dosage forms

A herbaceous plant called madder is found in the Crimean region, Dagestan, and the territories of Georgia and Azerbaijan. This medicinal herb is a perennial with powerful tree-like roots.

The composition of madder is rich in microelements that help cleanse the cat's body and normal functioning of the urinary system. The above-ground part of this plant contains many useful substances (flavonoids, carbohydrates, coumarins, iridoids, phenolcarboxylic acids). However, when treating urolithiasis in felines, its root system is used, which is better suited for this.

Madder roots are used in the treatment of urolithiasis in cats

The root system contains:

  • Organic acids. They are represented by: citric acid, which is responsible for the normal functioning of the cellular respiration system;
  • wine, which helps improve digestion and establish metabolic processes.
  • apple, which is especially necessary for the treatment of urolithiasis (urolithiasis) due to its ability to normalize cellular metabolic processes and improve the circulatory system. This acid also helps improve water balance and strengthens the immune system.
  • Iridoids. Their inherent diuretic, choleretic and antimicrobial effects contribute to the rapid removal of harmful substances from the body and the stabilization of digestive processes.
  • Anthraquinones have a mild laxative effect and help cleanse the intestines of waste. Presented:
      alizarin,
  • ruberythric acid,
  • purpurine,
  • Ibericin.
  • Triterpenoids. Their task is to stimulate metabolic processes; they also have an antimicrobial effect.
  • Ascorbic acid. Participates in regulating oxidation and reduction processes, reduces the amount of uric acid in the blood, improves immunity.
  • Pectin substances. Promote the removal of heavy metals, radionuclides, and toxic substances. They normalize metabolic processes and remove unwanted cholesterol from the blood.
  • Sugars are an energy source in the body.
  • Squirrels. They are involved in regulating hormonal levels and transporting hemoglobin. With their participation, enzymes are synthesized that ensure the process of normal digestion. Proteins help increase the body's protective functions.
  • Micro- and macroelements. They ensure the normal functioning of the entire body.
  • Madder medicinal products are made in various forms. They are produced for humans, but have also found successful use in veterinary medicine, when it is necessary to eliminate problems associated with disruption of the urinary system in cats.

    There are the following types of drugs sold in pharmacies:

    • Pills. They are used to facilitate the removal of sand and stones from the body. They are produced in the form of blisters of 10 tablets, each containing 250 mg. The active ingredient in them is madder extract in dry form. The lower limit for the cost of tablets is 60 rubles. Blisters are packaged in a box, inside of which there can be from 10 to 60 brown tablets.
    • Drops. They dissolve oxalates better than other dosage forms of madder. Contributes to the rapid removal of swelling and normal functioning of the kidneys. A bottle of drops with a volume of 50 ml costs approximately 200 rubles.
    • Chopped root. This remedy serves as the basis for the preparation of useful decoctions or infusions used in the treatment of diseases of the urolithiasis. The decoction effectively removes accumulated salts from the body. Infusions, if stones are present, relieve the body of pain. The cost of a package of dried root weighing 50 g is 50–90 rubles. Harvesting the roots and rhizomes of madder can be done independently in early spring and late autumn. They dig up the roots, free them from the ground, and dry them in the sun. Then, placing it on a cloth, dry it in a well-ventilated area.
    • Powder. It is used to relieve spasms and pain when small stones pass. It costs about 90 rubles. You can prepare the powder from the roots and rhizomes of madder by thoroughly grinding them with a coffee grinder or in a mortar.
    • Herbal tea. Along with madder, it contains plant components such as birch leaves and chamomile flowers. Herbal tea helps soften stones in any organ of the urinary system and painlessly remove them from the body. The cost of a package of 50 g of this tea is more than 100 rubles. To treat cats with this drug, you will need to consult a specialist.

    Urolithiasis in a cat

    Good afternoon to all cat lovers!

    I want to share my story in hopes of helping people not lose their beloved animals.

    3.5 weeks ago the cat became lethargic, stopped going to the toilet and eating.

    We noticed that he hadn't pooped in a while. We called friends with cats, they advised us to use Vaseline oil and a human candle, a quarter.

    The cat did not feel better.

    Then we took him to the veterinary clinic and found out that he had not peed for a long time. It turns out there are many like us.
