Properties, principle of operation
The drug has an effect against the main types of roundworms and tapeworms that parasitize the body of cats.
Deworming tablets Dirofen
The substances included in the tablets lead to the failure of metabolic processes in the body of worms and the destruction of cells. As a result, the helminth dies in a short time.
The additional active components of the tablets paralyze the parasite, which accelerates its death and prevents the laying of eggs. The medicine is active against parasites at all stages of their development.
The drug is classified as moderately dangerous.
When given according to the instructions, it does not lead to negative consequences for the cat’s health. The composition is easily tolerated by animals, regardless of age and breed. The medication does not disrupt the pet’s intestines and does not require taking laxatives or following a diet.
Biological properties
According to the official instructions, dewormers are highly effective medical products used in veterinary medicine to combat parasitic infestations in cats and dogs.
The product has a powerful inhibitory effect on the parasite's body, as a result of which in just a short period of time it is possible to completely overcome the problem of worms. Did you know? The founder of the science of studying parasitic worms (helminthology) is considered to be Carl Rudolphi. In the second half of the 18th century, this German scientist first collected a collection of parasitic worms and described their habits.
The drug is available in tablet form. Each of the tablets has a round shape and a characteristic yellowish tint. In the center of each pill there is a small groove dividing it into two halves, each of which bears the manufacturer's logo. The medication is sealed in a transparent blister pack on one side and a foil backing on the back. Each tablet is packaged in packs of 2 or 6 pieces, after which it is sealed in a branded cardboard box.
Depending on the age and weight of the animal, “Dirofen Plus” is divided into three different release forms in terms of component composition and concentration. There is a drug: for puppies and

Did you know? Veterinary medicine is considered one of the oldest medical practices. The first mentions of animal treatment date back to the 4th century BC. e. The term itself first appears in the works of the Roman naturalist Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella, dating back to the 1st century AD. e.
The main active ingredients of the drug contribute to a wide degree of anthelmintic effects on almost all common genera of tapeworms and roundworms that parasitize the gastrointestinal tract of animals. Let's consider the biological effects of each of them in more detail:
- Febantel: a substance that belongs to a group of compounds that transform into benzimidazoles. They contribute to the suppression in the body of parasites of the synthesis of a specific enzyme system associated with the digestion of lactose, and the synthesis of the protein tubulin. This triggers degenerative processes in the life of the parasite, which leads to its death.
- Praziquantel: one of the brightest representatives of the pyrazinamide group of substances. The compound has a negative effect on tapeworms at any stage of their growth and life cycle. When interacting with a helminth, praziquantel promotes increased penetration of calcium ions through the outer integument of the worm, which trigger pathological processes in the body of the helminth, causing its death (membrane depolarization, destruction of the tegument, etc.).
- Pyrantel pamoate: a substance from the pyrimidine group that causes a blockade in the worms of the transmission of nerve impulses in the muscular system. This causes paralysis of the body in the worms, which leads to their death. At the same time, poor absorption of the substance in the body of pets contributes to a long-term medical effect after its administration.
