Pets, just like people, are susceptible to various diseases. This is especially true for intestinal disorders, accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting - a fairly common phenomenon for our smaller brothers. At such moments, drugs such as Phosphalugel or Hilak Forte for cats can become a real salvation. After all, a cat, unlike its owner, is not able to complain about poor health, but can hint at it in every possible way. Therefore, you need to be more attentive to your pet, and even better, keep drugs like Hilak at hand at all times.

How to give Hilak to a cat?

Causes

There can be any number of reasons for such disorders in pets, the only thing that can be said with certainty is that food poisoning leads to this. This happens much more often with animals that have free and unrestricted access to the street, where they find spoiled food or drink stagnant water. But diseases of this kind are no less common in cats that never leave the apartment, so the reasons can be very diverse, in this case due to low-quality food, for example, which is simply not suitable for animals.

The most common reasons, what is important for pet lovers to know about:

  • It would be foolish to even assume that canned cat food contains even a small percentage of turkey, rabbit or trout meat. The natural product is replaced with emulsifiers, thickeners, chemical additives, and transgenic fats are used as a base;
  • A wide variety, as well as the abundance of a pet’s diet, negatively affects their digestive system. This only harms cats, given their sedentary lifestyle. Overeating acts like a laxative on their intestines;
  • Despite the weakness of pets for sausages, smoked meats, cheeses and other “delicacies”, they are completely unsuitable for their body. Some elements contained in such products are extremely harmful to cats and often provoke the development of cancer in them;
  • Often, a cat can suffer from human ailments, such as allergies, irritants, in most cases, contained in food. By the way, Hilak is also not a cat medicine, and therefore you should not look for it exclusively in a veterinary pharmacy - it is intended for people, but is also perfect for animals. Therefore, the question of whether it is possible to give Hilak Forte to cats disappears by itself.

Symptoms

But the symptoms of deteriorating health in pets are eloquent, and this is not only diarrhea or vomiting, we simply cannot help but notice this manifestation of diseases. Often, malaise is accompanied by a lethargic state, lack of interest and complete indifference, loss of strength. If a cat constantly sleeps, does not respond to the voice of the owner calling her name, refuses to eat, but her diarrhea and vomiting do not stop, this is already a cause for concern, and Hilak is unlikely to solve the problem. She may not be poisoned, so you need to contact a veterinarian for a diagnosis.

Diarrhea and/or vomiting in a cat: veterinarian’s recommendation

Diarrhea and vomiting in a cat are caused by a protective immune response of the digestive system to poor-quality, irritating, allergenic food, bacteria and their toxins, or a reaction to parasite antigens. Vomiting can occur when there is a mechanical obstruction to the normal passage of food (foreign body, tumor).

Also, vomiting and diarrhea can occur with pancreatitis, tumors, kidney/thyroid diseases, esophageal obstruction, intestinal obstruction. Another cause of vomiting can be heatstroke (sunstroke) (for example, if you leave an animal in the heat in a car - this should absolutely not be allowed!).

Vomiting and diarrhea can be caused by a large variety of diets (which cats do not require) or by feeding cats human food (table food is not good for cats!). Vomiting usually occurs due to inflammation localized in the stomach. Diarrhea means that the inflammatory process has spread to the intestines.

If diarrhea and vomiting do not go away after abstaining from food and simple steps to correct the diet, which we will discuss below, it is imperative to take the cat to the veterinarian to determine the cause of the disease. It is also important to know that with prolonged vomiting and diarrhea in cats, severe dehydration occurs, which may require urgent replenishment of the volume of circulating fluid in the body and correction of the acid-base balance of the internal environment of the body. Dehydration (especially with intoxication) can cause the death of a cat.

Traces of bright scarlet blood in the vomit or in the stool, black (like coffee grounds) stool, the presence of parasites in the vomit or stool are reasons to immediately seek veterinary help.

If vomiting occurs after a blow (injury), also consult a doctor immediately.

When visiting a doctor, take samples of your pet's vomit and stool with you.

What to do if your cat has diarrhea and vomiting before contacting a veterinarian (or if it is not possible to contact a veterinarian):

1. Remove the food your pet is eating. Avoid feeding for 8-12 hours. A break in feeding for more than 48 hours can lead to fatty liver; if the cat refuses to eat for more than a day, take him to the vet immediately.

2. Replace the water in the bowl, wash it thoroughly, and provide the cat with access to fresh, clean (bottled or chilled boiled) water in unlimited quantities.

3. Take the antacid drug Phosphalugel (sold in a human pharmacy), draw Phosphalugel into a syringe without a needle, and holding the cat (one person holds it, the other injects it) inject Phosphalugel into the cat’s mouth (aiming at the roof of the mouth). Repeat 4 times a day. Phosphalugel will reduce stomach irritation and reduce the effects of acid when abstaining from feeding. Phosphalugel will also bind toxins or allergens in the cat’s gastrointestinal tract. You can also add 1/2 of a crushed Laktofiltrum tablet (a good modern adsorbent) to Phosphalugel.

4. Buy a special probiotic for cats or the human remedy Hilak Forte. Let the cat lick Hilak Forte from your finger. Usually cats like the taste of Hilak Forte and they lick it with pleasure. If the problem is an imbalance of microflora, Hilak Forte will help to quickly restore it. In humans and cats, Hilak forte in large doses helps to quickly stop diarrhea in uncomplicated cases.

5. While the cat is abstaining from food, go to the store and buy a couple of Hill's I/D veterinary canned foods (for cats with gastrointestinal diseases). This veterinary food does not irritate the stomach and has sufficient dietary fiber to adsorb enterotoxins and form feces. Hill's i/d has a fairly coarse consistency. Perhaps someone will like EN from Purina or Gastrointestinal from Royal Canin more.

6. You can drop 20-30 drops of Hilak Forte onto the food in a bowl, and add crushed 1/2 pancreatin tablets to the food (to improve food digestion). Place food in small portions. If the cat does not eat food from a bowl, try giving him food from your hand. Good results for restoring the microflora of the gastrointestinal tract are given by the living flora of the drug “Narine”, which can also be given from the finger (looks like yogurt). You cannot leave uneaten food in the bowl - throw away the leftovers and put in a fresh portion at feeding time. It is better to feed more often, but in small portions.

7. Continue feeding the cat medicated food, giving Phosphalugel, probiotics and Pancreatin until the stool returns to normal. The diet must be maintained for at least another 1 week after symptoms disappear.

8. If vomiting does not stop the next day after eating, after a break in feeding and giving an antacid (Phosphalugel), take the cat to the veterinarian

.
If the stool does not begin to form (become more concentrated - dry) on the second or third day (in the absence of other alarming symptoms), take the cat to the veterinarian.
9. Antibacterial, antiparasitic agents, and hormones (corticosteroids) should be prescribed exclusively by a veterinarian based on the results of the examination.

How to help your cat if the symptoms persist and there is no way to see a veterinarian in the near future:

— continue to feed the cat veterinary medicinal food + add probiotics to the food (Hilak forte, Narine, Eubicor)

- constantly change the water in the bowl - it should be clean and fresh.

- give the cat antacids and adsorbents (Phosphalugel + Lactofiltrum) mixed in one syringe without a needle, 2 ml - inject into the cat’s mouth 4 times a day.

— add 1/4 -1/2 phthalazole tablets to the syringe with adsorbents. Give it to your cat 2 times a day for up to 3 days. If the symptoms do not begin to disappear by the third day after taking phthalazole, take the cat to the veterinarian by any means!

Use of the drug

Treating an animal without an accurate diagnosis poses a threat to its life. Hilak itself is completely harmless to pets; moreover, they like its taste, so it’s rare for a cat to be able to refuse such a “delicacy.” The point here is different - vomiting and diarrhea are usually signs of acute inflammatory processes occurring in the pet’s stomach and intestines, but not always. Giving Hilak Forte to a cat with diarrhea is the usual advice of most veterinarians; if no improvement is observed, the cause may be pancreatitis or the development of a malignant tumor.

Pets often develop a variety of diseases, so the owner should always have effective, high-quality drugs at hand to treat them. For example, “Hilak Forte” for cats. It is often used instead of the drug Forte Flora for cats or in parallel with it.

Intestinal upset is a common occurrence for furry pets. Especially for those who regularly go for walks outside. After all, cats can easily try some spoiled product or drink water from a dirty puddle. All this ends in most cases with problems with the gastrointestinal tract.

Some owners of felines choose “Phosphalugel” for cats, indicated for stomach disorders, while others prefer to use “Hilak Forte”.

It is important to note that cat owners should try to cope with only the safest, uncomplicated cases, for example, when the animal vomited from spoiled food or unsuitable food, as well as short-term intestinal disorders. If vomiting and/or diarrhea continues for more than a day and the animal is lethargic, sleepy, and does not eat well, then under no circumstances should you treat it independently.

It is necessary to show the cat to an experienced professional veterinarian. Most likely, the pet will even need to undergo some tests and undergo appropriate examinations to identify the cause of the problem. After all, it may turn out to be much more serious than the owner assumes and lead to very unpleasant negative consequences.

If an animal has been poisoned by any plant or industrial poisons, then it is permissible to use such a remedy exclusively as first aid to reduce intoxication. As soon as possible, you will need to contact a specialized veterinary clinic. This should be done as soon as possible.

Interestingly, the medicine “Hilak Forte” has a taste that is very popular with representatives of the cat family. Therefore, it is usually not difficult to force the animal to take the dose of the drug prescribed by the veterinarian, which is necessary for therapy.

Veterinarians recommend seeking help from the “Hilak Forte” remedy in case of disturbances in the flora of the large and small intestines, in case of problems with the animal’s digestion, all sorts of gastrointestinal disorders, liver and gallbladder diseases, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence and some other diseases. As you can see, the list of indications for its use is quite extensive, so the medicine can be called universal.

In some cases, it is prescribed to the animal even as a prophylaxis. For example, during a course of treatment with strong antibiotics or during radiation therapy. Taking the drug will reduce the risk of negative consequences of such therapy and, in general, will alleviate the animal’s condition during the treatment process, and will also maintain the normal functioning of its gastrointestinal tract.

Hilak Forte is often prescribed to cats for common allergic skin diseases. For example, with eczema or hives. True, in this case the medicine will most likely be used as an addition to the main course of treatment. Only an experienced veterinarian can select the appropriate complex therapy for an animal.

The product is taken orally after preliminary dilution with clean boiled water at room temperature. The standard dose is 3 drops for an adult animal.

There are different ways to give medicine to an animal. In general, as noted above, representatives of the cat family like its taste, so no obstacles should arise. The easiest way is to give the drug with food (preferably with food that the cat likes).

To prevent vomiting from leading to dehydration of the animal’s body, it is very important to give it fresh, clean drinking water in sufficient quantities during the treatment process. You will need to ensure that it is always in your pet’s bowl.

The modern drug “Hilak Forte” is an excellent effective remedy that allows you to quickly and easily cope with disruption of the gastrointestinal tract in cats. The main thing is to give it strictly according to the instructions for the medicine.
